Strategic asset management: work with this renowned sports and entertainment organisation
Melbourne is a city built upon its culture. A city that comes alive with sporting events, music festivals, concerts and festivities. These are the moments that breathe life into the city, bringing communities together to witness some of our country’s most awe-inspiring feats.
As a result, the venues that house these events are icons in their own right and have become integral to the city’s landscape. Celebrated for housing national and international events, the Melbourne and Olympic Park precinct is one such place. It is a constellation of stadiums and arenas a stone’s throw from the CBD, consisting of the iconic Rod Laver Arena, AAMI Park Stadium, Margaret Court Arena, John Cain Arena and Olympic Park Oval.
These have been the sites of some of the greatest moments in Australia’s history: the 1956 Olympics, the Australia Open, the Commonwealth Games and concerts from the likes of AC/DC, Queen, Elton John, Beyoncé and The Rolling Stones. These venues have seen our country’s greatest sporting talent make their mark, including Dawn Fraser, Lleyton Hewitt, Rod Laver, and even set the scene for Australia’s famous Davis Cup victories in 2003.
Olympic Park is the regular training ground for professional sports clubs, including Melbourne Storm, Melbourne Victory, Melbourne Rebels, and Collingwood and Melbourne football clubs. Each year, the precinct hosts around 400 events and attracts over 2.5 million people, making it a stalwart, not just within Melbourne, but Australia.
While some will remember these venues as a moment in time – the collective bated breath of thousands as a tennis ball arcs over a net, or the hush descending over an audience as the first chords of a guitar sound out on a dark stage – there are others that get the opportunity to embed themselves within M&OP’s venues every working day.
A new opportunity is currently available with Melbourne and Olympic Parks (M&OP), who is on the lookout for a dedicated Manager – Strategic Asset Management to join their team.
For those that work at M&OP, this is a particularly exciting time to come onboard, says Jodie Jinnette, Director of Facilities.
As the Melbourne Park Redevelopment nears its completion, slated to open in September 2021 is the new state-of-the-art conference and events centre, CENTREPIECE. Spanning three levels and with sweeping views of the city skyline, CENTREPIECE will bring a complete conference centre experience with the ability to facilitate everything from intimate conferences through to cocktail functions and gala dinners.
“This role will be key in integrating the new assets and will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to develop consolidated asset management processes within a complex environment”, says Jodie. “M&OP is a sizable and iconic portfolio that provides value to its employees, business partners and all Victorians.”
By assessing asset performance and leading initiatives that improve them and the way they are managed, this is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to embed themselves within the heart of the city’s thriving sports and entertainment precinct.
And it’s not just the career-enhancing, engaging work that make this a lucrative role, with other incentives for employees, including access to free parking, flexible working, social events and a culture where people live the values of the business.
“The organisation has an amazing culture”, Jodie says. “People are passionate about their work and have a close affinity to the assets they manage. The location is iconic and provides a strong sense of goodwill in managing the state’s social infrastructure.”
