They are seeking a Senior Ecologist to join their team in Orange, NSW. This role is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual looking to lead projects, mentor junior staff and provide high-level technical advice across a variety of ecological and town planning projects.

$100,000 - $113,000 base + Super (experience dependant)
Full-time onsite presence
As a Senior Ecologist, you'll support the Principal Ecologist and Town Planning team by:

  • Delivering technical ecological interpretation and advice across diverse projects
  • Leading fieldwork programs, reporting, and client liaison
  • Mentoring and supervising ecologists and subcontracted technicians
  • Applying your deep knowledge of State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and biodiversity policies
Your Key Responsibilities
  • The role requires you to work-on-site full-time, with the occasional flexibility.
  • Provide expert ecological advice and input across town planning and environmental projects
  • Manage and deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Lead project reporting, contract negotiations, invoicing and performance assessments
  • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Prepare fee proposals, manage subcontractor accounts and monitor project financials
  • Promote the company’s environmental capabilities and contribute to business development
  • Ensure compliance with environmental policies, standards and procedures
  • Supervise and mentor team members and support their professional development
What We’re Looking For
  • Extensive experience working with a wide range of environmental planning projects with 5-10 years experience in a Senior Ecological role
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in relevant field and BAM accreditation
  • Current Drivers Licence as there is occasional field work
  • A recognised technical expert in ecological management and deep understanding of State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and policy
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong project management skills, with a focus on quality and delivery
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
