This is an excellent opportunity to join and grow your career with a leading Australian government entity committed to protecting the economy, environment, and community through world-class measurement science.  Full time working hours (38) Monday to Friday for approximately 12 month duration. Working in the Organic Chemistry Laboratory, you will be part of a collaborative team delivering high-quality analysis across environmental samples such as water, soil, food, and pharmaceuticals. Your work will support national priorities and real-world outcomes in environmental health, food safety and regulatory compliance.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Undertake the extraction and analysis of organic semivolatile and volatile contaminants in environmental samples.
  • Operate, troubleshoot and maintain advanced analytical instrumentation, including GC, GCMS and LC.
  • Validate data and ensure results meet strict QA/QC standards in a NATA-accredited environment.
  • Contribute to projects that directly impact environmental protection, food safety and public health.
  • Work with a highly skilled and supportive team with opportunities to broaden your technical expertise..
Essential requirements you will bring:
  • A tertiary qualification in Chemistry (or equivalent scientific discipline) with at least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience extracting and analysing environmental samples for organic contaminants using GC or LC instrumentation.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental sample extraction techniques and instrument troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to work within a NATA-accredited laboratory environment.
  • Adherence to Quality Management System ISO9000/17025/17034.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, client-focused setting.
  • A collaborative approach, with the initiative and judgement to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety, compliance, and professional standards of conduct.
  • Australian Citizenship at time of application.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain a baseline security clearance.
