AUTOMATION DESIGN ENGINEER

We are seeking for an Automation Engineer for one of the largest snacking manufacturing sites in the world based in Hobart, Tasmania.  The successful candidate will work with the Engineering and Operations Team on a variety of RFQ projects involving the design, development, production, and installation of various equipment within their warehouse, chocolate making area, bindler automation and moulding lines.  The ideal candidate will have experience in a wide range of automation engineering disciplines, including PLC programming, testing, troubleshooting and evaluation within a production environment. 
The candidate will also be able to effectively communicate their ideas and design to other members of the team and prepare RFQ reports.

Reporting to the Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide inputs / documentation to assist in estimation associated with electrical engineering, preliminary / concept designs, and bill of materials
  • Lead the development and review design, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and other documentation as required for RFQ’s
  • Provide technical recommendations and experience for manager and RFQ reports
About You:
  • Engineering Qualifications – An Australian recognized tertiary degree in Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics
  • Electrical Connect and Disconnect Certificate (would be advantageous)
  • Registered Engineer or qualifications for registration is a requirement
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • PLC design knowledge, Allan Bradley, or Rockwell (would be advantageous)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks (would be advantageous)
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, AS3000
  • Strong focus on cost, schedule, and quality of project delivery for RFQ reports
  • Stakeholder management and ability to influence positively in decision making
  • Machine Verification and Validation would be advantageous
  • Team player and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Professional communication skills – Written, Spoken & Documentation
  • Previous experience in Project management, Process Engineering or similar experience would be preferred
