Nanango, QLD | Full-time
Our client is a well-established industrial manufacturing and fabrication business, delivering custom-built workshop fabrication items and engineered products. They are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their Nanango-based operation, working closely with the workshop, suppliers, and project teams.
This role is hands-on and operationally critical. It suits someone who genuinely understands manufacturing workflows, not just pricing — someone who thinks ahead about how and when work is physically built on the workshop floor.
Responsibilities include;
- Prepare accurate estimates for workshop-fabricated items(e.g. custom trays, fabricated components, assemblies)
- Review drawings, scopes, and specifications to determine materials, labour, and sequencing
- Source and review supplier quotes and manage purchase orders
- Liaise closely with suppliers to confirm lead times and availability
- Plan estimates with a clear understanding of manufacturing timelines, including:
- Material delivery
- Laser cutting
- Fabrication and assembly
- Painting / coating
- Machining
- Testing and quality checks
- Anticipate downstream impacts and flag risks before goods arrive in the workshop
- Work collaboratively with production and workshop teams to ensure estimates are practical and achievable
- Maintain strong cost control and documentation throughout the estimating process
- Proven experience as an Estimator within manufacturing, fabrication, or workshop-based environments
- Strong understanding of end-to-end manufacturing workflows
- Experience reviewing supplier quotes, purchase orders, and lead times
- Able to think beyond pricing and plan how work will physically move through the workshop
- Confident estimating fabricated items, not just standard off-the-shelf products
- Detail-focused, organised, and commercially astute
- Comfortable working on-site in Nanango, with occasional visits to other projects or sites as required
