Our client, the national organisation for nuclear science and technology, is focused on leading-edge research, innovative scientific services and providing specialised advice to government, industry, academia and other research organisations. They deliver experimental techniques that not only enhance current fundamental and applied research, but also open up new avenues of investigation for Australian science.

Their research facility based in Southern Sydney is undertaking a range of capital expenditure and maintenance projects and is seeking a Project Manager with strong leadership, stakeholder management and client-side delivery experience to lead and manage these for their teams on the site.

Duties include:

  • Managing mechanical upgrade and design improvement projects from conception to completion.
  • Initiating projects, including consulting with clients, stakeholders and management.
  • Providing quality verbal and written reports and presentations to key stakeholders.
  • Undertaking detailed planning, including developing project plans.
  • Managing risk by proactively tracking cost, scheduling, contract administration and resolving issues.
  • Managing relationships and ensuring customers are informed of progress.
Ideally you will have:
  • Australian Citizenship, essential.
  • Tertiary qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Recent experience managing large multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across technical, operational and client-side teams.
  • Client-side project management experience, including managing consultants, contractors, internal stakeholders, reporting, governance and delivery outcomes.
  • Experience managing procurement contracts, design consultants, and commissioning activities.
  • Experience managing safety, regulatory, quality and environmental issues.
  • Experience working in highly regulated, safety-critical or complex technical environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
