Senior Mechanical Designer / Lead Draftsperson -  Eagle Farm, Brisbane

An established and growing Queensland mechanical engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer / Lead Draftsperson to join its Brisbane team based in Eagle Farm.

This is an incredible opportunity for a practical, hands-on designer who enjoys solving engineering challenges and working closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams. Ideally, you'll bring the experience and confidence to operate autonomously while providing technical guidance and mentoring to other designers as the Brisbane team continues to grow.

Reporting into the engineering team, you'll be involved in the design and drafting of a diverse range of engineered equipment and manufactured products, taking projects from concept through to detailed workshop documentation.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Mechanical design and drafting using 3D CAD software
  • Producing detailed manufacturing and workshop drawings
  • Developing 3D models and technical documentation
  • Assisting with engineering calculations, design reviews and feasibility assessments
  • Working closely with engineers, workshop personnel and project teams
  • Ensuring designs comply with relevant Australian Standards and client requirements
  • Identifying practical design improvements and manufacturing efficiencies
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring within the Brisbane office
The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in mechanical design and drafting, ideally within a manufacturing, fabrication or heavy industrial environment.

In addition:
  • Advanced experience using SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD or similar CAD software
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes
  • Experience producing accurate workshop-ready manufacturing drawings
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency or unrestricted Australian work rights
If you're looking to join a growing Queensland business where your practical engineering knowledge and leadership will be valued, this may be your next best move. Please send your CV with detailed relevant and local experience to Michelle Murphy via mmurphy@baysidegroup.com.au . Apply in confidence through Bayside Group.
