An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join a leading Engineering Consulting team delivering projects across mine waste, tailings, and water resource management. This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy tackling complex challenges and want to contribute to innovative, best-practice solutions for clients in the mining, energy, and resource sectors.
You’ll work alongside highly experienced engineers and scientists on technically diverse projects, with opportunities to grow your skills through exposure to major Australian and international developments.
Key Projects Include:

  • Dam design and safety reviews
  • Dam breach and failure consequence assessments
  • Mine site infrastructure and surface water management
  • Drainage and stormwater management design
  • Water balance and tailings management studies
  • Environmental and surface water impact assessments
Your Responsibilities
  • Undertake hydrologic, hydraulic, and water balance modelling(TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, RORB, WBNM, Flow-2D).
  • Support dam break modelling and consequence category assessments.
  • Contribute to surface water management plans and infrastructure design.
  • Collaborate with technical and drafting teams to prepare detailed project documentation.
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and conference presentations.
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • 3+ years’ experience in hydrology, hydraulics, and water resource engineering.
  • Competent in GIS and familiar with ARR guidelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly Regarded Experience:
  • Mining or resource industry projects (tailings, dams, water infrastructure).
  • Knowledge of ANCOLD, GISTM, CDA, DES dam safety standards.
  • Experience in water balance studies, spillway design, or stormwater planning.
  • Proficiency with GoldSim, 12d, AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Muk3D.
  • Exposure to proposal writing and project coordination.
Eligibility for or progress toward RPEQ/NER registration is advantageous.
