This role is responsible for ensuring materials are available to meet customer demand while optimising inventory and supplier performance.
The role is primarily office-based, with regular interaction across warehouse and production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MRP analysis to align customer demand with supplier capacity and lead times
- Develop and manage material plans based on forecasts and purchase orders
- Monitor stock levels, in-transit inventory, and shipping schedules to identify shortages
- Maintain accurate system data to support real-time decision-making
- Generate shortage reports, material arrival reports, and escalation reports
- Manage inventory levels and classification (ABC analysis)
- Liaise with suppliers to manage deliveries, lead times, and performance issues
- Coordinate logistics planning with freight forwarders and internal teams
- Review non-standard orders and confirm delivery feasibility
- Track returnable packaging and manage stock movements
- Manage excess and non-moving inventory
- Communicate material-related delivery changes to customers
- Proven experience in material planning / supply chain role within manufacturing
- Strong working knowledge of MRP systems
- Understanding of supply chain processes including forecasting, demand planning, and logistics
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Business, Finance or related field
or equivalent industry experience
- Inventory performance aligned with sales forecasts
- Supplier performance against delivery and KPI targets
- Reduction in excess and obsolete inventory
- Effective management of material availability and shortages
