This hybrid, casual position as a Workplace Relations Consultant is based in South Melbourne and offers candidates the opportunity to play a pivotal role within a dynamic and collaborative team.

You will foster a fair and productive work environment by providing expert support, resolving issues proactively, and ensuring the organisation adheres to employment laws and best practices.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of personnel and human resources, as well as government industrial regulations, is essential. Experience in interpreting and working with Enterprise Agreements and Modern Awards is mandatory.

What You Will Do:

  • Responding to Level One Workplace relations queries (phone and email) to provide first point of contact advice.
  • Conduct research (including legislation, industrial instruments, industrial bulletins, media, and the internet) to provide substantiation for the advice given.
  • Provide advice on the terms and conditions of employment contracts.
  • Provide proactive advice to business owners and employers to mitigate the risk of industrial disputes and industrial relations issues.
  • Develop, review, and implement workplace relations policies and procedures to ensure best practices and compliance with industrial obligations.
  • Oversee performance management processes and provide advice on how to manage employee misconduct or violations of company policies.
What You Need to Have:
  • Required: Must have working rights in Australia
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, law or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial relations or a related field.
  • Sound understanding of current legislation, industrial awards, enterprise agreements, and dispute resolution procedures
  • Negotiation skills: The ability to negotiate effectively and find common ground between management, employees and labour unions.
