How our recruitment process works

  • What roles are typically recruited in the energy sector?

The energy sector engages a broad range of people, including those with engineering, scientific, environmental, project, maintenance, trades, advisory and administrative backgrounds. Listed above are key roles Bayside Group recruits in the renewable energy sector.

From an engineering perspective, we regularly look for Civil, Electrical, Renewable, Project and Site Engineers. Asset and facilities management is also a significant function in the energy sector.  People with a science degree will work in laboratories or on site, across functions including testing, environment and sustainability, research or advisory roles. People with technical backgrounds are often engaged to undertake construction, auditing and maintenance. Policy and regulatory knowledge is highly sought after, as governance plays a significant role in the sector.

  • What qualifications are required for renewables roles?

Like any job, qualifications will depend on the role and requirements. Formal qualifications in engineering, science or environmental science, environmental management, environmental sustainability, policy and management are common. However, the industry looks for talent across a broad spectrum.

Given the changing nature of renewables, many professionals undertake graduate certifications specific to renewables, environment, sustainability or policy to expand their knowledge. Soft skills include design thinking, problem solving, project management and collaboration.

  • How is compliance handled in energy recruitment?

Bayside Group consistently manages employment compliance across disciplines or industry. However, the application of Awards will be specific to the role or sector, along with candidate skills sets relevant to industry standards. Standards will incorporate energy pricing, environmental impact and conservation, utility regulations, technology regulations, international agreements, project permits and more.

Bayside Group’s recruitment processes are tailored to industry requirements to ensure our clients engage individuals with the relevant skills and knowledge.

  • How quickly can you source qualified candidates?

Bayside Group sources qualified candidates fast, but it depends on the role and the candidate market. Our specialist team are talking to candidates every day and have extensive networks, which generally reduces recruitment timeframes.

Our consultants will provide indicative timeframes to our clients once briefed and continue to update as to progress.

  • Can you support large scale project hiring?

Yes. Bayside Group has extensive experience recruiting for large organisations and major projects, and has a team of engineering, scientific, technical and administration recruiters to support our renewable energy team.

  • Do you offer executive search for senior renewable energy roles?

Yes. As a niche recruitment organisation, our executive team is highly experienced and specialist. This means they have extensive networks from which to access, and the ability to approach executive talent discretely and effectively.
